.Jennifer Love will talk about the work in her upcoming exhibition at the Eve Smart Gallery in the Gibsons Public Art Gallery: the concept for the show, her printing and collage methods and her presentation techniques.
She will show images and bring some finished works.
Her current work is inspired by issues of memory and selfhood.
Jennifer creates abstract textile paintings using collaged hand-painted and printed fabric. Sometimes they are stitched.
Occasionally she uses similar techniques with paper. Layering – of colours, of patterns and textures, of fibres and stitches,
of references gleaned from nature and human culture – this is at the core of her art practice. She is particularly interested in
intersections, disruptions and reversals where positive and negative space, natural and man-made patterns, order and
randomness have an opportunity to coexist and interact. http://surfacedesignbc.org/gallery/jennifer-love/
